Discover #VIRADAS: a series about everyday environmental challenges faced by women in three states across the country

Our case study of the week features #VIRADAS, an incredible project we carried out in 2022—an election year—with @WWF-Brasil

In a country where more than 10 million women are heads of households—most of them in the C socioeconomic class—we wanted to understand the solutions they offer to everyday environmental issues such as recycling and access to water and quality food.

We spoke with women from the outskirts of São Paulo, Recife, and Florianópolis and learned valuable lessons about climate justice and its greatest challenges. One of our interviewees even mentioned raising stingless bees in backyards as a possible solution to help restore our ecosystem, since they are sensitive bioindicators that are essential to maintaining that balance.

This project, in partnership with @favela.news and @usinadaimaginacao, was a success, reaching more than 50,000 people. Amplifying these voices and addressing these issues is extremely rewarding for us.
