We were once asked this question, and after a few conversations, we agreed that specifying one’s preferred pronoun—whether “she/her,” “they/them,” or “he/him”—is a simple action with positive impacts.
Adopting this signage as an agency shows that we recognize and embrace different gender identities and that we strive to foster an inclusive environment. For the general public, who may not follow this practice, seeing these pronouns in our signatures or presentations helps raise awareness, educate, and normalize the use of non-conventional pronouns (she/he), and also helps avoid awkward situations—after all, we should not assume people’s genders based on their physical appearance.
This is our way of promoting greater diversity and inclusion. Why not share your pronouns, too?
